Ben Carson
Benjamin Solomon Carson was born in September 18th 1955 and raised by a single mother Sonya Carson. Benjamin grew up in the inner city of Detroit where he attended elementary school. After his parents broke up, Ben began to fell farther and farther in his education and developed a violent attribute to his nature which was some times deemed uncontrollable. Due to his falling behind, Benjamin’s class peers started to call him the name dummy. During this time his mum didn’t realise the brake up with her husband had took a negative affect on Benjamin because she was not around most of the times due to her having to work 2-3 jobs to provide for her children. But when she did notice she took it upon her self that she would be determined to turn her sons life around for the better. She imposed new laws around the house:
1. Kids were not allowed to go out unless all their homework were completed.
2. The TV hours would be decreased enabling more time for studying.
3. They had to read two library books a week and had to give written reports on every thing they had read
After a few weeks Benjamin began to amaze his friends when his teacher brought in a rock in which Benjamin quickly identified as he had seen the rock in a book he had read. Benjamin himself said “at that moment I knew I wasn’t stupid”. Benjamin continued to amaze his peer’s with his newfound knowledge and within a year was the top student in his class. With his newfound hunger for knowledge, Benjamin began to read book relating to all subjects and also learned to control his temper. Benjamin then graduated with an honor and then went to study in Yale University where he met his future wife Larcena. After graduating from Yale with a degree in psychology, he attended a medical school (the university of Michigan) where his interest shifted from psychology to neurosurgery. At Medical School, his hand-eye coordination and three-dimensional reasoning skills made him superior to his peers. After graduating he became a neurosurgery resident at the world-renowned John Hopkins hospitals where at the age of 32 he became the hospitals Director of pediatric neurosurgery. In 1987, he made history by successfully separating conjoined twins by the head. Since then Ben has gone on to complete many other successful operations and has also become a successful writer including four number 1 best sellers. Sadly Ben has been diagnosed with prostate cancer but lives happily with his wife and 3 kids at the age of 60.
